Map Reading for Hikers
Even if you never plan on leaving a trail, map reading is an essential hiking skill. Learn to read topographic hiking maps, and experiment with practical route-finding skills. Four hours. $60 per person, minimum four.

If you've never handled a GPS, then here's a light-hearted opportunity for learning the practical do's and don'ts of hiking GPS units. We use the delightful "geocaching" treasure hunt game as practice. GPS units supplied, or bring your own. Four hours. $65 per person, minimum four.

This half-day introduction helps you learn how to use a handheld GPS with standard paper hiking maps to identify locations, plan routes and find your way back.
