Snowshoe Adventures
Winter is a beautiful time to discover Santa Fe’s spectacular mountain areas. With over 330 days of sunshine each year, the snowy mountains are truly a winter wonderland.
Snowshoe season in the southern Sangre de Cristo Mountains near Santa Fe corresponds closely with seasonal winter, from December 21 to March 21. Conditions peak in February, when an established base of snow and strengthening winter light make a blissful combination.
Ambitious hikers can choose ridge climbs with great payoffs in mountain views, while families might enjoy more gentle forested hikes. Our guides design private tours for all levels and abilities. You don't need any prior snowshoeing experience!
Staying true to our belief that playing outside has the power to inspire, outings include plenty of time to stop and enjoy the views, and replenish with warm beverages and snacks.
Our snowshoes from Mountain Safety Research are lightweight, compact, and have durable steel crampons to grip snowy hillsides. Snowshoes are designed to “float”, allowing us to roam on and off-trail through pristine winter forests.
Outspire provides you with snowshoes, poles, daypacks, water, snacks, and a knowledgeable guide. Participants should bring a camera, warm layered clothing, gloves, hat, sturdy waterproof boots and a desire for fun!
An important note: children 8 years and older fit fine into snowshoes, but those younger than eight struggle even with children's shoes, and would be much happier having fun on a sled. Please call us if you have questions about this.
Costs:
Two to four hikers $290 flat fee (inclusive of all, not per person)
(Solo hiker $230 flat fee)
$75 per person for each additional hiker
Maximum group size is 8 people (ask about larger groups)
